Wow,I slove the issue of the batteries for my MacBook like this…

As Scot Marburger wrote, I too had a similar problem on one of the batteries for my MacBook (I have two batteries). One of them, the one I bought about 2 years ago (3 months after I bought my MacBook) would shut down without any warning anywhere between 60-50% of the Apple A1245 battery charge.

Before I went to the local Genius Bar, I tried to recalibrate the Apple A1080 battery (which turned out to be rather hard, when you can’t get down to below 60-50 % of charge to begin with), reset SMC, zap PRAM/NVRAM, check the battery health status, etc. Recalibration, SMC/PRAM/NVRAM reset did not help at all. The PowerBook G4 battery cycle count was around 230 at that time. The battery in question was, however, not showing any of the four typical symptoms of defective batteries.

When I visited the Genius Bar last week, they asked me a few questions and checked the Apple 13-inch MacBook Air battery with their special diagnostics software. Not surprisingly, it came up as a bad battery. However, they just were not willing to replace the battery for free. The best I could get was an “offer” of $99 for a “new” battery that comes with 3 months warranty. I declined that offer, given I can buy a new battery for $129 with 12 months warranty anywhere (not to mention that I qualify for the educational price of $116 with 12 months warranty: $17 saving for 9 months of fewer warranty just did not make any sense to me).

What I thought interesting was, as far as I could tell, they did not even check the serial number of the A1079 battery to see how old it might be. I was simply told that the battery is out of the warranty and the best they can do is the $99 deal (which is hardly a deal if you ask me).

A few days later, the same Apple A1012 battery finally gave up. My MacBook no longer sees the battery being there and I get “X” shows up in the menu bar. This time, instead of driving across the town, I gave a call to Apple asking about the possibility of the battery replacement.

The Apple tech lady I talked was very nice, but was unable to give me a replacement Apple PowerBook G3 battery. She checked with their specialists to see what she may be able to do, but she was told that since my battery is not within the serial number of the defective batteries, therefore, no chance for a free replacement.

So, I ended up ordering a new Apple A1039, which arrived today. My other battery, by the way, which came with the machine is still going strong with around 400 cycle counts. As far as I can tell, it’s not how I am using the machine/battery, based upon what I see on the original battery’s performance. I may still try with the local Apple Store one more time, but so far, I have not been very impressed with Apple on the M9756 battery issues.

The cause of fire blight study in Cambridge identified

ABSTRACT:Scientists have identified a reason why the lithium laptop batteries in laptops and mobile phones could overheat and catch fire.

vilivs10Researchers at the University of Cambridge said the growth of metal fibers, called dendrites, could cause short circuits.Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), normally used to identify elements in molecules, has adapted to “see” how to develop dendrites. The researchers said it could help resolve fire safety issues that have been carried out the development of lithium Dell Latitude D800 Battery. The lithium Pavilion dv8000 Battery technology is said to be crucial for progress in the next generation of electric cars.

Fast Reheat

When the laptop batteries are charged quickly lithium dendrites current minutes can form in carbon anodes. These fibers can cause a short circuit, causing the Asus Eee PC 1000H battery to overheat and catch fire quickly, Angel Gray Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge, said. “These deaths lithium fibers were a significant barrier to the marketing of the new generation of higher capacity batteries,” he said.

The fire safety must be resolved before reaching the next generation of lithium ion laptop batteries and before they can safely use these batteries in a wide range of transport applications. Now that we can control the formation of dendrites inside the IBM laptop batteries can be identified when formed and under what conditions. “Our new method should allow researchers to identify what conditions lead to the formation of dendrites and quickly screen possible solutions to avoid the problem.”

Rechargeable Batteries Life

Although rechargeable batteries have their energy content restored by charging, some deterioration occurs on each charge/discharge cycle. Low-capacity nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries (1700-2000 mA·h) can be charged for about 1000 cycles for Sony VGP-BPS2, whereas high capacity NiMH batteries (above 2500 mA·h) can be charged for about 500 cycles. Nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries tend to be rated for 1,000 cycles before their internal resistance increases beyond usable values dell inspiron 1721 battery. Normally a fast charge, rather than a slow overnight charge, will result in a shorter battery lifespan. However, if the overnight charger is not “smart” and cannot detect when the battery is fully charged, then overcharging is likely, which will damage the Dell Latitude D620 Battery.

Rechargeable batteries self-discharge more rapidly than disposable alkaline batteries, especially nickel-based batteries; a freshly charged NiCd loses 10% of its charge in the first 24 hours, and thereafter discharges at a rate of about 10% a month Toshiba PA3395U-1BRS. However, modern lithium designs have reduced the self-discharge rate to a relatively low level (but still poorer than for primary batteries). Most nickel-based batteries as Toshiba PA3384U-1BRSare partially discharged when purchased, and must be charged before first use.

Degradation usually occurs because electrolyte migrates away from the electrodes or because active material falls off the electrodes. NiCd batteries suffer the drawback that they should be fully discharged before recharge MacBook Pro 15-inch Battery. Without full discharge, crystals may build up on the electrodes, thus decreasing the active surface area VGP-BPS9 and increasing internal resistance. This decreases battery capacity and causes the “memory effect”. These electrode crystals can also penetrate the electrolyte separator, thereby causing shorts. NiMH, although similar in chemistry, does not suffer from memory effect to quite this extent inspiron 1721 battery. When a battery reaches the end of its lifetime, it will not suddenly lose all of its capacity; rather, its capacity will gradually decrease.

“Deep-cycle” lead-acid batteries such as those used in electric golf carts have much thicker plates to aid their longevity Apple A1008?. The main benefit of the lead-acid battery is its low cost at VGP-BPS8; the main drawbacks are its large size and weight for a given capacity and voltage. Lead-acid batteries should never be discharged to below 20% of their full capacity, because internal resistance will cause heat and damage to dell 1721 batterywhen they are recharged. Deep-cycle lead-acid systems often use a low-charge warning light or a low-charge power cut-off switch to prevent the type of damage that will shorten the battery’s life.

Automotive lead-acid rechargeable batteries have a much harder life. Because of vibration, shock, heat, cold, and sulfation of their lead plates Dell Inspiron 1525 Battery?, few automotive batteries last beyond six years of regular use. Automotive starting batteries have many thin plates to provide as much current as possible in a reasonably small package. In general, the thicker the plates, the longer the life of the INSPIRON 2650 Battery. Typically they are only drained a small amount before recharge Sony VGP-BPS5. Care should be taken to avoid deep discharging a starting battery, since each charge and discharge cycle causes active material to be shed from the plates.

Secondary Batteries Tips

Secondary batteries must be charged before use; they are usually assembled with active materials in the discharged state. Rechargeable batteries or secondary cells can be recharged by applying electrical current, which reverses the chemical reactionsApple A1008 that occur during its use. Devices to supply the appropriate current are called chargers or rechargers.

The oldest form of rechargeable battery is the lead-acid battery. This dell inspiron 1721 battery is notable in that it contains a liquid in an unsealed container, requiring that the battery be kept upright and the area be well ventilated to ensure safe dispersal of the hydrogen gas produced by these batteries during overcharging. The lead-acid battery is also very heavy for the amount of electrical energy it can supply Toshiba PA3465U-1BRS. Despite this, its low manufacturing cost and its high surge current levels make its use common where a large capacity (over approximately 10Ah) is required or where the weight and ease of handling are not concerns.

A common form of the lead-acid battery is the modern car battery, which can generally deliver a peak current of 450 amperes. An improved type of liquid electrolyte battery is the sealed valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) Dell Inspiron 1525 Battery, popular in the automotive industry as a replacement for the lead-acid wet cell. The VRLA battery uses an immobilized sulfuric acid electrolyte, reducing the chance of leakage and extending shelf life. VRLA batteries have the electrolyte immobilized Sony VGP-BPS5, usually by one of two means:

Other portable rechargeable batteries include several “dry cell” types such as dell 1721 battery, which are sealed units and are therefore useful in appliances such as mobile phones and laptop computers. Cells of this type (in order of increasing power density and cost) include nickel-cadmium (NiCd), nickel-zinc (NiZn), nickel metal hydride (NiMH) and lithium-ion (Li-ion) cells. By far, Li-ion has the highest share of the dry cell rechargeable marketDell KD476. Meanwhile, NiMH has replaced NiCd in most applications due to its higher capacity, but NiCd remains in use in power tools, two-way radios PC764, and medical equipment. NiZn is a new technology that is not yet well established commercially.

Recent developments include batteries with embedded functionality such as USBCELL, with a built-in charger and USB connector within the AA format with inspiron 1721 battery, enabling the battery A1078 to be charged by plugging into a USB port without a charger, and low self-discharge (LSD) mix chemistries such as Hybrio, ReCyko, and Eneloop, where cells are precharged prior to shipping.

Maintain batteries for daily use and maintenance

Maintain batteries for daily use and maintenance

Notebook computer battery is the consumables, the battery once opened, will begin the process of aging. With the aging of the chemical characteristics of cells vary. Aging with the use of normal methods. If the frequent charge-discharge of BATCL50L batteries, it will accelerate the aging batteries. Battery life over a period of time, power will gradually shorten the time until the can not be used. Therefore shorten the battery life is a normal situation. Most of you who normally use an external power supply, like not using the travelmate 290 battery, but a matter of fact, the aging process of the battery over time has been less of the battery can only delay the process, but can not make it stop.

The impact of factors such as battery life:

Battery charge / release number of the use of the environment temperature (30 ℃ suggested that the use of temperatures below computer) battery storage temperature
Shock suffered by the size of the BATCL50L4 battery

Battery using must follow the below “principles”

1. AC Adapter (external power adapter) mode, use the battery if it has not gone through charge / discharge process, the life will be longer than the normal battery.

2. A smaller number of charge and discharge a certain extent, can extend aspire one battery life.

3. In the indoor temperature above 35 ℃, the battery wear and tear than the normal speed when the temperature much faster.

4. Throw, hit, etc. batteries will also accelerate Travelmate 290 battery depletion.

Application of the following battery will significantly shorten the working hours.

  1. The use of CD-ROM drive, such as DVD, CDROM and CDRW drives.
  2. The use of wireless communications equipment, an external PC card or USB device.
  3. The use of high-brightness display settings laptop battery, 3D screen savers or other programs, such as 3D games.
  4. In the highest performance mode of operation of the computer, power management program that is set to “always open” or “Max Battery mode.”
  5. The activities of procedures, including procedures for running in the background.
  6. LCD brightness (LCD more light, the greater the power consumption).
